Pipeline Contractor Case Study Detail

The Client: Pipeline Contractor

The Project: Safinah worked to support the client over a 2 year period on a $3.5bn legal claim for inadequate corrosion protection of a newly installed gas pipeline. Many of the field joint coatings were showing blistering and disbonding along the edges of the joint.

Our Role: Safinah was able to show that the blistering was due to osmotic blistering. This blistering affected only the outer edges of epoxy field joint coating and not the corrosion protection provided.

The Outcome: Safinah provided technical assistance to the client throughout the claim which gave cost savings to the client and assurance that the asset was sufficiently protected from corrosion.
