Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer with practical experience in data engineering, Dynamics 365, and system administration. Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering

  • Take part in the design, creation, and upkeep of efficient data pipelines to process diverse data sources.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data requirements and participate in crafting data solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Play a role in optimizing data workflows to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Contribute to basic data documentation and assist in adhering to governance practices.

Dynamics 365 Integration

  • Assist in the configuration and basic customization of Dynamics 365 to meet operational requirements.
  • Work closely with functional teams to grasp business processes and provide support for effective Dynamics 365 solutions.
  • Monitor and assist in troubleshooting Dynamics 365 integrations, ensuring seamless data flow.

System Administration

  • Support system administration activities, including assisting in the management of servers, databases, and cloud resources.
  • Participate in upholding security best practices and contribute to implementing necessary access controls for data protection.
  • Aid in monitoring system performance, identifying common issues, and engaging in routine maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with internal/external IT teams to contribute to the overall stability of our systems.

Technical Proficiency

  • Utilize basic programming skills to assist in scripting and automation for entry-level data processing and routine system administration tasks.
  • Show an eagerness to learn and stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in data engineering, Dynamics 365, and system administration.

Collaboration and Learning:

  • Learn from experienced team members and actively participate in collaborative projects.
  • Engage with fellow data engineers, data analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and contribute to data-driven initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, demonstrating practical exposure to data pipeline development. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is desirable.
  • Good understanding and experience in data warehousing, ETL processes, and data modelling concepts.
  • Basic familiarity with Dynamics 365, including configuration and entry-level customization, as well as a willingness to learn more.
  • Fundamental understanding of system administration concepts, coupled with a desire to engage in server, database, and cloud management tasks.
  • Entry-level proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, Java, or Scala for basic data processing and automation activities.
  • Interest and some practical experience in data governance, data quality, and data security practices.
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset for working within a team environment.

The successful candidate will be reporting directly to the Head of Special Projects and would ideally be UK-based, preferably in our Gateshead office. Other locations in Europe can also be considered.
