Safinah Group’s Keith Hutchinson and Andrew Scott of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency discuss the new SOLAS2020 Damage Stability Regulations for RO-PAX ships together with possible future developments in the May 2020 issue of The Naval Architect magazine.
The rapid adoption of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) as the ‘transitory’ marine bunker fuel of choice has prompted the recent emergence of LNG Bunker Vessels (LBV) to service this demand. As a new and complex ship type with specific and unique operational and design issues, there can obviously be difficulties in specifying and hence developing optimal and safe LBV designs.
The work of the design team has become increasingly more complex over the years as the requirements of what clients expect have increased as well as the effects of burgeoning new legislation.
